Accompanied by her distinctive 5-piece band featuring violin, Anneka's haunting voice and thoughtful lyrics create an engaging performance that moves between heartfelt downtempo moments and driven, upbeat tracks. Anneka's rise through Leeds' vibrant live music scene has been remarkable, performing at beloved local venues and recently headlining at Hyde Park Book Club. Her musical journey began at just 14, busking in her hometown of West Sussex every weekend, and she went on to study at the prestigious Brit School before arriving in Leeds to form her band. Now studying BA Songwriting at Leeds Conservatoire, she brings both technical skill and genuine artistic passion to every performance. Anneka Shelley’s haunting voice and thoughtful lyrics combine to create a very enjoyable listening experience. Supported by her 5-piece band, she evokes heartbreaking emotion in anyone watching her while still performing a driven set with a blend of downtempo and upbeat songs. The addition of a violin to her performing band makes her performance even more unique and interesting to watch. At just 20 years old, Anneka has performed in several venues all across Leeds, such as The Lending Room, Wharf Chambers, and Oporto, along with her recent headline gig at Hyde Park Book Club. She studies BA Songwriting at Leeds Conservatoire and is fully immersed in songwriting, whether alone or collaboratively. She grew up in West Sussex, where she first began making music at 14, busking in her hometown every weekend to make an income. Anneka went on to study Music Performance at the Brit School from 16–18, where she was able to hone in on and improve her skills while also making friends and industry connections for life. Upon arriving in Leeds in September 2023, she immediately formed a band to help perform her songs, performing for the first time with her band in October 2023. Anneka is constantly working on new material and bringing it to her band, as well as producing her own demos to share online and with other people. She regularly posts on social media, mainly Instagram and TikTok, on both of which she is becoming increasingly popular.
