More Information
Glasgow-based singer-songwriter John Rush masterfully blends "folk-tinged pop" with an impressive live performance resume. He has performed on some of Scotland's most iconic stages, including the Barrowland Ballroom (four times), King Tut’s, O2 Academy, and the Royal Concert Hall, and has played at festivals across Scotland and England. John has shared the stage with music legends such as Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Scene, The Bluetones and Chris Helme (The Seahorses). He also joined Rick Astley for a sold-out performance at Kelvingrove. His talents have taken him across the Atlantic, where he played four shows in New York City, including an intimate Sofar Sounds rooftop session. After the lockdown, John returned to the festival circuit, performing at Capers in Cannich, Eden, Doune, and Lindisfarne, and headlined a sold-out gig at Saint Luke’s in Glasgow. He supported Hipsway at the Barrowland Ballroom during CeilidhFest 2023 and was personally selected by Paul Weller to support the Scottish leg of the Modfather’s UK Tour in the same week. Around this time, John released his single “The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From The Tree,” which climbed to #2 on the iTunes UK Singer-Songwriter chart. In 2024, John’s career soared even higher with performances alongside The Silencers, festival slots at Eden and Doune The Rabbit Hole, and a landmark 2,100-capacity show at Kelvingrove Bandstand supporting Rick Astley. John is making waves with new music, including his highly anticipated second album. The lead single, “Waitin’ For Your Love To Call,” released via Button Up Records (helmed by Garry John Kane of The Proclaimers), debuted at #1 on the Singer-Songwriter charts. The full album, Some Time On New Street, was released in late 2024 as well as on limited edition Vinyl. John has been touring the album since early 2025 all over the UK including Liverpool, Manchester, London, Newcastle, Glasgow & Edinburgh.
