More Information
Hey! My name's Mike and thanks so much for taking the time for checking out my Gigpig profile! I am a multi-instrumentalist, singer and performer currently working out of Liverpool and performing in venues across the North West. I have spent the last several years performing as a full time musician as both a solo artist and as part of a band. I currently hold several residencies across venues in the Merseyside area and regularly perform in local bars, restaurants and hotels (as well as perform at private events such as weddings, birthdays, wakes and corporate events.) My main instruments is the acoustic guitar. I also play the harmonica and sing. I have over 15 years of playing experience and as a result, I am able to play a wide variety of styles and genres. I also use a loop station with my performances to create the impression that I am playing with a full band, layering the parts as I go. My specialty is my ability to take requests from customers on demand, as well as building my sets specifically around the vibe of the event/venue. I also use my loop station to help give the songs more dimensions and depth. My repertoire is extensive and vast, consisting of songs from all genres of music spanning several decades as far back as the 1930's to modern day. A typical, unspecialised set from me (depending on the venue and the time of day) would consist mainly of a range of classic hits from a range of genres but I always try and read the room and deliver what best suits the environment. For example, a Friday/Saturday night, up-beat set might consist of music from bands/artists such as: Fleetwood Mac, Talking Heads, Hall and Oats, The Eagles, Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon, The Black Keys, a-ha, Tears For Fears, The Beatles, Eurasia, Van Morrison, Fountains of Wayne, Guns and Roses, The Doors, Oasis, The Human League, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Wheetus, James, Radiohead, Green Day, The Killers, Paolo Nutini, David Bowie, Elton John,Coldplay, The Strokes, Soft Cell, the list in endless! Essentially though, I'll be playing major sing along hits from the biggest artists of the past decades! However, If I'm booked for a more laid back gig, where the vibe is more background/lounge style music, a typical set would consist of artist such as: Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Jackson C. Frank, Tracy Chapman, Simon and Garfunkel, Bill Withers, Frank Sinatra, Peter Green, James Taylor, etc. I'd also play some hits that people would know but I would acoustify them and make them much more laid back with a softer energy! Please feel free to take a look at my supporting videos/showreel to see the kind of range of music I am able to play. Over the last several years I have spent my time building up relations with local venues and becoming a resident player in several establishments across Liverpool and the North-West. I am usually currently booked between Thursday - Sunday at venues such as: Lock and Key, Manolo, Spanish Caravan, The Old Tavern and The Adelphi Hotel. I also play/have played frequently at several other Liverpool-based establishments over the last few years, such as: The Monro, The One O'clock Gun, Wall of Fame, The Jacaranda, Phase One, The Phoenix Hotel, Coopers Bar, Coast - Birkdale, Love Lane Brewery and Fredericks to name but a few. Full references from owners/past bar managers can be made available upon request from all of these venues. With that said, I have played in venues across the whole of the U.K, travelling as far as Hastings to perform. I have also had the privilege to play countless private events such as weddings, wakes, birthdays, anniversary's and corporate events, including specialised nights of music. For each event, I enjoy sitting down with the client(s) and making sure I do whatever I can to make their event special and memorable. Be it, learning specific songs for their special day or arranging songs and setlist for them to suit their event. I have also hosted live music events where I have specialised in an specific area of music/musical artist. For example I have played sold out events specialising in folk music throughout the ages and the music of Bob Dylan. These events consisted only of folk music from artists such as: Nick Drake, John Martyn, Dave Van Ronk, Davey Graham and the songs of Bob Dylan; I am always happy to sit down and discuss similar styles of events with potential clients if they're interested in putting on these kind of tailor-made shows. I am also able to provide my own PA system and sound kit if the venue does not have one.
