About the Artist

** Available for bookings from April 2026** Sophie Penman is a 25-year-old multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter from Edinburgh, her song writing and blues-jazz piano styles informed by the finesse of Nina Simone and Norah Jones. Her music is a blend of catchy melodies, emotive lyrics and soulful harmonies. Trained as a classical violinist and singer, she also draws on influences from classical music and stays true to her roots through Scottish folk influences. Sophie has played across the country and abroad, with highlights including BBC 4 Loose Ends Live in Stirling, The Pheasantry in London, Perth Festival of the Arts, Aberdeen True North Sessions, the Edinburgh Castle, MRM Livelounge and MiCannes in France. She has been featured on BBC Introducing several times and was featured on the BBC's 'Best of the best’ playlist in 2022. Sophie is currently based in Glasgow and is working towards her new EP. She is currently collating a list of classic blues and jazz piano, guitar and vocal covers and is looking for cover gigs around Scotland.
