Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground becomes the ultimate stage for emerging artists through GigPig

GigPig has orchestrated over 37 gigs during the summer’s highly anticipated Ashes and The Hundred matches held at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester, with more on the horizon to entertain and dazzle the crowds in the coming weeks.

Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground came on board as a GigPig venue earlier this year, enabling the venue to search, book, and manage entertainment via the innovative GigPig platform. This is transforming the summer entertainment scene with an unprecedented fusion of music and sport, which has led to more than 30 emerging Manchester-based solo artists and DJs booked to perform.

Among these spotlighted artists is esteemed DJ Libby Nolan, who has helmed the decks at numerous Emirates Old Trafford matches over the summer and is booked to play again on Friday 1 September to ignite the atmosphere during the international match against New Zealand.

She said: “This is an incredible opportunity to reach new, larger audiences. I’m an avid cricket follower and never dreamed I’d have the chance to play a set to a crowd in this iconic stadium. Cricket and music are two of my passions and it’s fantastic to bring them together.

“This wouldn’t have been possible if I’d not signed up to GigPig, it’s a platform which has struck up links with unique and interesting venues which I would struggle to access otherwise. I’m looking forward to heading back to Emirates Old Trafford in September. It’s going to be a great afternoon and I’ll be aiming to create an atmosphere which gets the crowd behind the cricketers!”

Michael Forster, CEO and co-founder at GigPig, added: “Live music leaves lasting memories for audiences, adding a unique vibe to events and hospitality venues. Sports venues are up there with the most exhilarating places to play a live set and generate a really brilliant opportunity for artists, and I’m delighted to have welcomed Emirates Old Trafford as a venue on our platform this year.

“Our focus is to open up the doors for gigging artists, giving them a platform to showcase their talent while earning a living. I’m absolutely thrilled it’s led to so many opportunities for local artists to perform there - what a boost for them!”

Upcoming gigs at Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground booked through GigPig include Tom Harvey, Guy Connor and Jody Findley on Sunday 20th August as well as Danny Blackburn, Daisy Kate and TBR on Wednesday 23rd August, both for The Hundred.
